“This is a church, not a pop concert”

So, Britters was at church yesterday and her presence caused quite a kerfuffle according to this story, reported in The Metro, London’s morning freesheet (as well as in a number of other tabloid gutter press publications and on news/gossip websites known for stories of a more dubious nature)…

So, the fallen Princess of Pop hops off to ask God for a helping hand back (onto the straight and narrow, one assumes - although perhaps it is just a publicity stunt, I mean, wasn’t she into Kabbalah the other week?) and a Pap takes her photo. This leads to a rather over-zealous security guard pulling a gun out, ordering the bloke out of his car and handcuffing him.

Ridiculous!

I am sorry, but it’s a church in HOLLYWOOD! Christ almighty, if you will excuse my choice of words. I know that everyone is entitled to some privacy, but most of these stars actively court the world’s media. The more column inches, the more they are worth. It’s all about being bankable, and Britney knows that she needs to turn her image around. Oh, a lovely trip to church.

Anyway, that wasn’t the point I wanted to make.

When questioned by the media about the incident, the Executive Director at the church commented: “One photographer was on the wrong side of the road and tried to run over an officer who had stopped traffic [...] one of our guards pulled a gun out. I cannot speak for the security officer but he does not regret it. This is a church, not a concert.”

Precisely. Why the FUCK do you have a gun at a church?!?!?! Hell man, listen to your words. Do you know how utterly ridiculous that sounded?!

I hope it was a misquote… I can’t get over how thick people are.

(Yes, I know he was referring to the presence of photographers at a church when they are more inkeeping at a concert. Yes, I know that perhaps a church is not the place to hassle celebrities. But it is certainly not the place to have a firearm either and I just love to point out the hypocrity of the situation.)
