Oops. Another moment of madness. Egged on by Maple Moose and Nursey, I just registered my unfit arse for this:
It’s not until next May and, assuming this op goes well, I will be ready to start running again at the start of 2008, which Nursey says is plenty of time to get me in good enough shape to run 10km. Bearing in mind that earlier this year I did run 5.5km without doing any training whatsoever. I think I might be able to do this!!!
I do wonder what makes me think this sort of thing is a good idea at the time of registering though… ho hum.
When I sort it all out and get a justgiving page up and running (no pun intended), will you sponsor me?

I will sponsor you .. if only to make sure you do it! ;D
I’ll sponsor you
I reserve the right to call you a nutcase though
Cat – yep, yep, I will do it.
Dom – “and hunny you can call… me… Aaaaal…!” if it means that you dig deep for charity. You can call me anything you damn well like. You can even take photos of me purple and sweat-drenched at the end
Blimey blue you’re brave. Or did an alcoholic beverage at lunchtime contribute to the registration madness…?
I haven’t touched a drop on alcohol since about 4pm yesterday
“photos of me purple and sweat-drenched at the end” – that sounds vaguely pornagraphic
Well, if a half-dead, crying-from-pain, and totally out of puff girl with sticky out ears and frizzy hair is your bag then I suppose it would almost be porn…
I will even post a post-event photo up here for bloggers/readers to laugh at… but only if enough of you sponsor me
HA!
You mad muffin! But I’m sure that you’ll manage it, just as you did the last one. What are we sponsoring you for, exactly?
first stop 10k, next stop the marathon??
all I said was that it was do-able – don’t cast blame in my direction…
definately sign up for it! Its gives you a reason to train at least. I did my 10k on Sunday
it was hard but I’m glad I did it and it gives you a real sense of achievement.
I’ll sponsor you
Charity as yet undecided. I’m thinking of Jo’s Trust (cervical cancer charity) or Macmillan (cancer charity). Jo’s because of the linky with my CIN stuff, but Macmillan in with a chance because it is a charity that I have a lot of time for in general. Macmillan also have a lot of people running and that might be good for morale and getting through to the end with their race side supporter crews.
Think a marathon is unlikely. Although my GP last night said that there’s a chance I will “catch the running bug” (which I “caught” when I used to go to the gym anyway, but with a good cause behind it maybe I’ll want to do more? Who knows. I haven’t even done this one. After the JP 5.5 I felt great and wanted to get back into it again – but I never got around to it.
Ms20 – Congrats! Was it the GSR? What was your time? x
I nearly entered the London 10km race to give you a bit of support, but it’s closed now. boo.
Macmillian had one of the biggest teams at the GSR, so they’re definately a good one to pick. The other biggest ones were Cancer Research and Marie Curie.
GSR is 10 miles. Killer. 10km is definately a better one to start out with!
If I can get a charity place for the London 10k, I may well still join you!xxxx
If I can do 10k, you can. I did the runlondon north vs south last year – so I’m sure you will be fine.
I’m running the 10k too! Never run anything in my life and totally unfit…must be mad…
Dan – yay!!! I’m not the only one!
