Crammed into a Southern train carriage this morning, I noticed a man doing the sudoku puzzle in this morning’s edition of The Metro. Nothing unusual about that of course. I do wonder what ticking each completed line says about someone though? And when he finished the entire puzzle he put a big tick through the box as if he was a teacher marking his own work.
Now for something completely different.
See below a photo of my hand next to The Mechanic’s hand.
I have large hands for a girl. In fact, I rather dislike my hands, they are not very delicate like a woman’s hands ought to be. The Mechanic has huge hands. He makes my hands feel dinky.
Also, note how very clean his hands are. When I first met him, his hands were dark with oil and muck from working under car bonnets and with scooter engines all day. He said that he would scrub them but never manage to get all the crap off them. I commented how clean his hands are now and he said that he washes them more because of me - because he likes how it feels to be clean with me. Awww.
One other thing about his hands. Look at his hand next to mine. There is something very distinctive and unusual about it, which tells you something about his genes. (The same is true of his other hand). Any ideas? (Clicky on the photo above for a bigger one).
Finally, The Mechanic very firmly told me to bring my counterpart driving license with me next time I go to visit. He wants to buy me the CBT for my 25th birthday present and, despite protestation from yours truly, didn’t seem likely to take no for an answer.
The plan is to pass my CBT and take a couple of months getting used to riding on the road. He said I can nick his sister’s little 50cc to pootle about on as she never rides it and is getting a car anyway. Then I’ll book in for a 4 day course with his mate to get properly polished up on a little GS500 and then I will take my full motorcycle test.
A-whoot!

hmm, something about his genes…what could it be? I know! Your hand is hiding the sixth finger on his hand. Am I right?
I don’t see? apart from the fact that the lines on his hand makes a bow tie
His hands are huge and calloused but for some reason my immediate thought when I first saw the picture was that they look gentle and sincere. Funny that I had that reaction to a hand.
Froggy - He may be a country boy but he hasn’t got any deformities
(Sorry Bluedog
)
TT - I can’t see a bow tie!! But you’re on the right track in that it’s something to do with the lines on his palms.
M-Joy - I know what you mean though. His hands are really rough to touch because of all the manual work he does, but he’s really gentle. I was watching him scratch an itch on his forehead a few weeks back and I thought “how did that satisfy the itch?” because it was so soft. Everything about him is big (I mean, tall, big chest, big leg muscles, big chin) but he’s a really soppy bugger.
His hand looks normal to me….
Index fingers slightly curling inwards (indicating carefulness with money - possible banking background)?
Miniscule hairs in the palm of his hand (hinting at possible lycanthropic heritage)?
Absolutely ginormous tree trunky fingers indicating possible Oak tree roots?
Eek, werewolf. Run, RUN!
HE IS NOT A WEREWOLF!!!
You’re going to have to explain then. If he’s not a deformed 6 fingered mutant (like my brother and niece) and he’s not a supernatural monster then what is it?
Look at the major lines on his palm. Look at those on mine. You can see three clearly defined lines on my hand. On his, two of them blur into one and one of those is faint. When he curls his hand up, he has a deep crease curling around his thumb and one across the middle of his palm - according to doctors when he was a baby, this suggests that he is carrying the Downs Syndrome gene.
