I didn’t see the Michael Jackson memorial service, not one second of it (although I bet it’ll be on the news when I put the telly on), but I have seen coverage of it online this morning.
Those children should never have been put on stage to be turned in to a spectacle. They should have been kept away from the flashes and the limelight to grieve in peace. Will the Jackson family never learn??

I’m not big on funerals (who is), but I have to say that I found clumps of it a touch uncomfortable / distasteful – have a memorial concert by all means, but why not have it after the burial / cremation (there was certainly no need to have the coffin there in my view).
Then again, I suppose it wouldn’t be Michael Jackson if it wasn’t a bit weird.
I saw the bit with the kid on the news. what was worse than his daughter wanting to say something was that Grannie Katherine and Auntie Janet were both very insistent on mic placement to allow her to be properly heard and making sure she spoke up properly.
Disgusting!
Also, i read and heard that they had already had the funeral before the memorial so WTF was the coffin doing there?
The next wave of exploitation will be the sale of all the merchandise that is already made for the O2 concerts, and then a DVD of the many hours of rehearsals from that preparation.
Bless her heart. As I read somewhere….MJ spent all those years trying to shield them from the media and let them have as normal a life as possible…and in one fail swoop, his family go and put her on stage in front of thousands of people.
They would be better off with their mother than the Jackson family…although poor little Blanket doesn’t know who his Mum is…
I just thought, all those years of covering their faces and making sure they weren’t exposed to the public; then dad dies and they’re paraded infront of the world’s media. Maybe he was the one protecting them afterall.
Speaking of exploitation, I read or heard somewhere that supposedly there is enough unreleased recorded MJ music to fill around 30 albums so expected wave after wave of shit music to be released over the next 20 or so years. Presumably, it was unreleased because it sucked so I’m not expecting much (not that I was a fan to begin with).
From what I’ve seen of the Jacksons, they never have done. Never will do!
